List Building - Opt in Email Marketing in 7 Vital Steps

Opt in email marketing is undoubtedly the way forward for online profits. It is a simple concept based on building a list of people interested in your chosen niche or product.
The beauty of it all is that these will be the people who have confirmed their interest by opting in to your list. They will be eager to hear from you.

1. You need to offer something of value upfront to get names and addresses. You should not expect anyone to just give you their name and address for nothing. There are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to choosing an opt in incentive of value for your visitors. You can choose from ebooks, videos, software, free memberships to exclusive clubs and so on.

2. Build a website and make your landing page a squeeze page. A landing page is the first page that your visitor will land on once they enter your domain name into their browser. The whole idea of using a squeeze page is that people have to sign up to get your freebie or they will not be able to access any of your other web pages. It forces the visitor to make a decision to either sign up or leave.

3. Write some copy for your squeeze page. Don’t just assume that because it is a squeeze page people should just as a matter of course enter their name and email address to get your freebie. You have to sell it! Mention benefits that your visitor stands to gin or miss for that matter if they do not sign up.

4. Subscribe to an auto responder so that you can obtain the html code for your squeeze page and secondly write a few messages for your subscribers. Your first message can simply be a welcome message and also information about what else to expect from you.

5. Now it’s time to upload your squeeze page to the world wide web. You can use a file transfer protocol facility to do this. There are free ones out there like Coreftp.com.

6. Drive hoards of traffic to your landing page (yours is a squeeze page remember?). My favourite traffic generation method is article marketing not just because it is free but because it produces targeted traffic.

7. Spend some more time on your email messages as you are now trying to convert your subscribers to buyers. Provide useful information that will help your subscriber. Recommend really good and useable products.

Treat your subscribers well and continue to drive more traffic to your squeeze page. Remember that each subscriber has opted in to your list and thus given you permission to their inbox. Do not abuse the privilege.
