Email Marketing Tips For Beginners

by admin

Email marketing has proven to be a lucrative business model over the last decade. Below are three email marketing tips to survive spam filters and get your email opened.

Surviving The Spam Filters

The success of email marketing has lead to an influx of abusers, or “spammers”. Due to the number of unwanted emails received daily, several email providers use an automatic spam filter to curb the abuse.

If you’re sending an offer to an opt-in subscriber, your first goal is to survive any filters they may be using. Certain words and phrases are automatically flagged. Over use of “free” or too many dollar signs in your email can trip a spam filter and send your email to the bulk email folder.

Before sending out emails to your subscribers send a test email to several popular email providers to see if your email is tripping any filters.

Getting Your Email Opened

If you pass the spam filters you next goal is to get your email opened. There’s zero chance of getting a sale if your email gets deleted. The two most important factors of getting your email opened are the subject line and the from line.

The subject line should create interest while establishing a need to open the email to get more details. When you include your pitch in the subject line with a price you give the reader the opportunity to say “no” without even opening your email.

After the subject line, a reader’s eyes will usually go to the “from line”. They want validation. Can I trust this sender? Did I ask for this? Or more likely, “Is this spam”?

When sending an email to an opt-in subscriber, the from line should have an easily identifiable name or domain.

Stick To One Topic

Each email should have a singular goal or theme. Including too many offers for several different products will prove to be counter productive.
