Though it may have received years of bad press because of the onslaught of spam in the inboxes of every e-mail account holder in the world, email marketing by reputable companies is still a large and thriving sales plan. It is important to remember that spamming does still happen when creating and evaluating your email marketing strategy because it could well decide the fate of your business.
First and foremost, your email marketing strategy must include an all important key phrase “Opt In, Opt Out”. It sounds simple enough and it is, but those four words can often mean the difference between absolute success and terrible failure on line. When your potential customers opt in to your email marketing list, they have made a conscious choice to accept and review email from you and your company. In each and every e-mail they receive through this list there should be a clear and understandable explanation of what is required should they decide to opt out. This keeps your email marketing strategy professional and reputable and will set you apart from those companies mentioned in the first paragraph.
Whatever form your mailings take on whether it be newsletters, sales notifications or just periodic “what’s going on” type emails, the faith and trust your web site visitors and mailing list participants put in you will be strengthened by the knowledge that you have no intention of sending them mail if they no longer want to receive it from you. So give your subscribers the option to opt-out.
